A 70s Icon Reborn . . .
The first LED digital watches were introduced in 1971 under the Pulsar brand, by 1973 they had taken the world by storm. After appearing in the James Bond Movie 'Live and Let Die' many more manufacturers have produced LED watches until they became as recognisable as the lava lamp, millions of LED watches were sold and then with the introduction of Seiko's LCD watch in 1979, LED almost became extinct overnight, rarely to ever return since the 1970's. Now LED watches are popular with collectors and those in the know! LED vintage watches can now be worth 10 times their original price and are a design classic.
Now that high volume manufacturing processes for real LED watches no longer exists they have become more difficult and expensive to produce. The production of these authentic repro red LED watches involves careful and dedicated work. We use modern and highly reliable digital watch module parts fitted with the original 70s type seven segment self illuminating digits similar to the type are wire bonded by the manufacturer to the modern module. The result is an amazing combination of absolutely authentic 70s LED watch look and feel with the reliability and long life of highly accurate modern electronics.
