At this point, if you know your network is running DHCP, then you can just select DONE and begin to play the game. If you are not sure, check with the person who set up your network. By default, THPS3 and THPS4 is set to AUTO DETECT (DHCP). DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) means that the network automatically assigns IP addresses to the devices connected to it. |
This next section assumes that your network IS NOT running DHCP. If this is the case, you will need to manually assign an IP address to your PS2.
Go to the Network Setup and select Connection Settings. Select TYPE. Select Static IP Address. |
|
From the Connection Settings menu select IP Address.
Enter the IP address of your PS2 in the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX in the IP address entry screen.
Talk to you network administrator to find out what IP address you should use. |
From the Connection Settings menu select Gateway. Enter the Gateway for you network, in the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXXX.
Talk to you network administrator to find out what Gateway address you should use. If you are plugging into a router, then you will probably want to enter the IP Address (WAN) of the router. |
|
From the Connection Settings menu select Subnet Mask. Enter the Subnet mask in the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.
Talk to you network administrator to find out what subnet mask you should use.
The default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 and this may work for most home networks. |
Return to the Main Menu. Select Network Play from the main menu.
The game will now test your hardware and settings. If you get an error message, please go to the Troubleshooting section. |
|
Once your setup is tested, you will be at the Network Play menu. Select Internet. |
Next, you should see the Message of the Day. If you get the Message, congratulations, you're online! |
