Yesterday, at the E3 2012, Nintendo showed off the upcoming Wii U system with the announcement of several new games.
Nintendo has announced that the Wii U supports multiple controllers, allowing gamers to play together. Wii U will also enjoy widespread media support, with YouTube, Netflix and others.
Nintendo has confirmed that it is working on a method that will allow gamers to transfer Wii content to the Wii U. This will include existing game downloads and save game information, but it is possible that the transfer system won’t be in place by the time the Wii U launches later this year.
Also announced, is that the Wii U GamePad will run for between three and five hours per charge. The GamePad weights 500g, making it lighter than an iPad. Its screen is 6.2 inches but does not support multi-touch, meaning users are restricted to one digit at a time. It has a standard 16:9 ratio, just like an HD TV. The resolution of the display has not yet been revealed.
The Wii U game line-up will feature a special version of Just Dance 4, plus Assassin`s Creed III, Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, Rabbids Land, Rayman Legends, Sports Connection and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013. All of these games will make use of Wii U`s touch screen tablet controller.
Also introduced in E3 is the new Batman titles, Mass Effect 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Trine 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Lego City, Nintendo Land, Zombie U, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Nintendo Land.
The date of the official launch is not yet announced, but most likely it will be later this year. Everybody is waiting to Nintendo`s official announcement.
